
Sir Jonah Cyprian
Sir Jonah Cyprian Oke was born on 15th December 1963 and hails from Ikuru Town in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. His early educational journey began at St. Simon’s Primary School, Ikuru Town, where he studied from 1969 to 1974. He proceeded to Government Secondary School, Ngo, Andoni (1975–1980), before furthering his studies at the Federal Polytechnic Idah in Benue State (1982–1984). Driven by the desire for academic and professional excellence, he later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Port Harcourt between 1989 and 1994.
Professionally, Sir Jonah Oke is a seasoned finance and administration expert with over twenty-five years of experience. His career path reflects a record of diligence, competence, and strategic contribution. He rose through the ranks to become the Finance and Administration Manager at D.M.S. Nigeria Limited, consultants to the Oil and Gas Free Zone in Onne. As one of the pioneering contributors to the establishment of the Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone from its inception in 1998, he played a vital role in shaping its operational foundation. He was instrumental in developing sound financial procedures for D.M.S. Nigeria Limited and also contributed significantly to the formulation of financial frameworks for the Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone.
His professional strengths cut across treasury management, bookkeeping, taxation, administration, budgeting, and corporate account reporting. Known for his problem-solving ability, adaptability, and commitment to continuous personal growth, Sir Jonah is a quick learner with strong ethical values, organisational discipline, and the initiative required to achieve set goals. He is a natural leader, a team builder, and a conciliator who inspires confidence in those around him.
Understanding the importance of lifelong learning, Sir Jonah continually updates himself on emerging trends and best practices within the financial and administrative sectors. He is a member of the Institute of Registered Administration Managers of Nigeria and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of Nigeria—professional affiliations that underscore his dedication to excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Sir Jonah Oke is deeply committed to faith and community service. He is a Knight of St. Christopher (KSC) in the Anglican Communion, serving across both the Diocese of Evo and the Niger Delta Diocese. His service to the Church spans leadership roles, including a decade-long tenure as Church Treasurer of New Covenant Anglican Church, Elelenwo (2011–2021), and his current service as People’s Warden and Church Treasurer at St. Simon’s Anglican Church, Ikuru Town (2022–date).
His passion for community development extends beyond the Church. He actively participates in the governance of the Eliminigwe Housing Estate Phase 3, Elelenwo, Port Harcourt, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Estate Management Committee. He is also a committed member of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals. In the pre-PIA era, he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ikuru Town Community–Otakikpo Development Trust (2021–July 2022). He now serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ikuru Town Host Community Development Trust, a position he has held since August 2022.
