In a bid to foster economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among the youths of Ikuru Town, the Ikuru Town Host Community Development Trust has launched a Skill Acquisition Program aimed at equipping 15 youths with practical and income-generating skills. This initiative is designed to provide hands-on training in pipe fitting, welding and fabrication, phone repair, hair styling, hair cutting, fashion designing, and video editing/photography. The program is structured to ensure that these skills directly translate into employment opportunities or entrepreneurial ventures, enabling participants to secure better livelihoods.

A notable aspect of this program is its emphasis on gender inclusivity, with 9 females and 6 males benefiting from the training. By encouraging female participation in traditionally male-dominated fields such as welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting, the initiative actively supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: Gender Equality. This effort aims to break stereotypes and provide equal opportunities for both men and women in the workforce.
